Ohio History Connection

Eight earthwork complexes in Ohio are in the process of being nominated to the World Heritage List.  Our local Ft. Ancient State Park is one of them.  The Ohio History Connection (formally the Ohio Historical Society) has decided to seek a grant to purchase 56 acres of King’s Domain, along the north side of State Route 350, to act as a buffer.  The rationale is here, and the attached PDF shows this proposed purchase. 8/26/2019

Denver Williams Retirement

Sincere thanks to Denny Williams on his retirement this month (December 2017) after 32 years of faithful service to Washington Township.  We all appreciate your  dedication and calm leadership.  Wishing you the best!

Fire Department Request

Residents, please be aware of height clearance requirements needed for a fire truck to access your driveway.  If you have low overhanging branches, it would be best to remove them to allow easy access to your residence by the fire department.  Thank you!

Historic Warren County

The Heritage Advisory Council has compiled an updated story of our region.  This colorful, limited edition history is available from member agencies for $35.  The history may be purchased at the Mary L. Cook Public Library in Mason, Ohio.

Slow Moving Vehicles and Bike Races

Residents are urged to use caution when our farmers are on the roadways.  They have to move about, and will occasionally slow down traffic; a bit of patience is appreciated!   There will be bike races throughout the summer on our roadways; please be patient and use caution!  Thank you very much!

House Number Signs

Green vertical house number signs for your mailbox post are available for purchase from the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District at 82 Spring Hill Road in Clarksville.  They are $15 each, and checks can be made out to the Clinton-Warren Joint Fire District.  Call (937) 289-2427 Monday through Saturday between 6am to 4pm to make arrangements, or just stop by.  If you are unable to mount the sign yourself, the Fire Department can handle this for you

Robberies in Township

There have been several robberies this past year in our township and in neighboring areas.  Citizens are advised to lock homes vehicles and storage buildings, and keep outside lighting on at night.  Please be aware of any unusual or suspicious behavior in your neighborhood, and report it to the Warren County Sheriff at 513-695-1289.  Also if you come across someone selling tools and equipment very cheaply, these might be stolen goods.  Report this as well.  Thank you!

It is also advised to check with your insurance companies to make sure that all your tools and equipment are properly covered in the event of a theft.

High-Speed Internet

Many residents would like to have high-speed Internet available in the township (some of you already do, but many do not).  “Connect Ohio” is taking petitions from residents in unserved areas in an effort to improve service in rural Ohio.  To find out more, visit their website at www.connectohio.org.

Parts of the township are able to be served by CenturyLink’s DSL connections; you can visit their website at: https://www.centurylink.com/home.    Parts are also served by Frontier; visit their website at: https://frontier.com.

Satellite Internet connections are also available through DirecTV at http://www.directpackages.com/deals.html or through Dish Network at

https://www.mydish.com/internet/wired, or through HughesNet at http://internet.hughesnet.com. Or call them toll-free at 1-800-794-1830.

In September 2018, local residents began a petition to Spectrum to bring cable internet to our township.  You can access that petition at:

Trustees shared at our Oct. 22, 2018 meeting that another company may bring fiber internet to the township, although they will service schools first.  If you wish to contact them, they are Independent Fiber Network, 13888 County Road 25A, Wapakoneta, OH 45895.  Telephone is 419-739-3100.
